Sub-series consists of records documenting the activities of Laboratory Centre for Disease Control (LCDC) with regard to two diseases which posed a threat to the Canadian population in 1994 and 1995: bubonic or pneumonic plague, and the Ebola virus. The sub-series includes binders with copies of faxes of travel advisories, criteria for airport personnel to identify carriers, question and answer documents and updates on the situations in the areas of origin of the disease. Also included are a variety of subject-based files which document the daily activities of the LCDC and related institutions as the monitored the Ebola situation in Zaire and took measures to prevent the spread of the virus to Canada. The subjects include: daily update reports; emergency procedures for suspected Ebola virus infection on aircraft destined for Canada and comments thereon; summary of international quarantine measures; copies of emails/fax and supporting information from a number of other nations such as Australia, Belgium, France, Francy, Germany, Turkey and the United States; logs of telephone calls to LCDC relating to Ebola; and briefing notes for health care providers.
