This is a preliminary description. Please consult the linked accession. Sub-series consists of operational records of Prosthetic Services of the Medical Services Branch. Since the functions carried out by Prosthetic Services were devolved to the provinces beginning in the 1970s, most of the records remaining in the 858 block deal with that transfer. Some files deal with provincial governments (i.e. Nova Scotia, 858-2-2) or hospitals (i.e. the Royal Ottawa Hospital, 858-2-5).
