Collection consists of photographs of interior of the home of Judge T.C. Haliburton, Windsor, Nova Scotia.

The collection also includes a letter from T.C. Haliburton to [Lady?] Zetland, 1849, discussing the political situaton of the day. The letter was copied from originals in 1987. Material is located on microfilm reel A-1781.

Haliburton, Thomas Chandler, 1796-1865 : Thomas Chandler Haliburton, lawyer, politician, judge, writer, was born at Windsor, Nova Scotia in December, 1796 to William Hersey Otis Haliburton (1767-1839) and Lucy Grant (1774-1797). Haliburton wrote satiric sketches for the "Novascotian" during the years 1835-1836, which, in 1837, were collected by, Joseph Howe, and published as a book,"The Clockmaker". The author of four histories including "An Historical and Statistical Account of Nova Scotia" (1829), Haliburton is perhaps best known as the creater of the literary character, Sam Slick. In 1816 he married Louisa Neville, the daughter of Captain Laurence Nevill and Anne Dundas. The couple had ten children. In 1821 the family moved to Annapolis Royal and again to Windsor, where Haliburton began the building of Clifton, the family home. Louisa Haliburton died in 1841. In 1856, Thomas married Sarah Harriet Williams and moved to London, England. The couple did not have children.
