The collection comprises memorabilia dating mainly to the World War I and World War II periods and pertaining to the Stratton and Tough families of Toronto, as well as persons known to them. Included are a miniature watercolour portrait drawing of one William "Billie" Monroe (a W.W.I officer in the 48th Highlanders?), by unknown artist; an illustrated "Roll of Honour" dedicated to Lt. William Gordon Tough, Canadian Garrison Artillery (1890-1918); an R.M.C. Discharge certificate dated 1900; a copy of "Their Name Liveth / A Memoir", an illustrated publication honouring former students of Parkdale Collegiate Institute (Toronto), who gave their lives in W.W.I; a W.W.I Christmas/New Year's greeting card issued by the 48th Highlanders of Canada; a W.W.I era two-sided prayer card with silk fringe published by Raphael Tuck & Sons (England); two illustrated postcards dated 1915, a Canadian view depicting a logging scene in British Columbia, and an American view depicting the interior of a San Francisco restaurant (i.e. the "Portola-Louvre"); an illuminated testamonial presented to Major James "Reginald" Stratton, M.C. (1897-1976), Royal Canadian Engineers, on the occasion of his retirement (from the Reserve Engineers) in 1945.

The collection also contains thirteen (13) original cartoons by Canadian cartoonist, the late Duncan Macpherson (1924-1993), dating from ca. 1964-1970, and pertaining to the following subject matter: the Chinese Cultural Revolution; the European Common Market; Federal Government fiscal initiatives; French culture versus English culture in Quebec; the politics of the Diefenbaker/Pearson years; Quebec separatism countered by regional development aid; the Vietnam War. Included with these cartoons were three soft cover reference books illustrating some of the works of the artist.

The majority of the photographic material in the collection dates to the first World War. Images include: a portrait of an unidentified Canadian Army officer; portrait of Captain Cecil Trafford of the Scots Guard; group photo of Canadian Army officers seated in a trench; group photo of officers of the 228th Field Company in Cologne Germany. Pre-World War I material includes an album belonging to Gordon Tough (dated 1915) containing approx. 165 snapshots - (mainly tourist shots from trips to Europe and United States) as well as images of a silver mine in Cobalt, Ontario. Collection also contains five rolled panoramic photos including: image of Staff, 5th London General Hospital (1919); No's 1, 2 and 3 of 2nd (Reserve) Field Park Company, Royal Canadian Engineers (1942); and the entire 2nd (Reserve) Field Park Company, Royal Canadian Engineers (1942). Other post World War I photographs include an envelope of Stratton family photos ca. 1900-1977 and a portrait of unidentified Stratton family member (possibly brother of JR Stratton). Snapshots other than informal family snapshots are from W.W.I, W.W.I nurses and of Spadina Convalescent Hospital in Toronto.
