29 photographs b&w and col.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:Fonds consists of drawings, sketchbook of drawings, and pastels done during five trips to the Arctic from 1951 to 1972, most of which date from Fort Chimo in 1967 to Maricourt in 1968. Included are several individual portraits of Inuit; views of Inuit daily life including hunting and fishing activities; views of places including Chesterfield Inlet, Fort Chimo and Pangnirtung. Works are by Fleurimond Constantineau. Photographic material consist of: portrait of Fleurimond Constantineau and other photographs related to his trips to northern Quebec and the Northwest Territories during which he sketched and painted native people. Included are views aboard the icebreaker Regina Polaris, activities and Inuit at Chesterfield Inlet and Pangnirtung, Northwest Territories, and Maricourt, Quebec.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Constantineau, Fleurimond, 1905-1981 : Fleurimond Constantineau, painter, draughtperson, was born in Saint-Michel, Québec. He studied at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Montréal. Constantineau travelled to the Arctic in 1951, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1972 and 1973.
