Series consists of five correspondence sections of which the two largest cover Jones' correspondence with scientific colleagues in Canada, the U.S., Britain, Europe and elsewhere, dating mostly from his NRC career. The correspondence concerns spectroscopy, both basic research and analytical applications and international standards. There is also correspondence with organizations such as the Chemical Institute of Canada, the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the Spectroscopy Society of Canada. Three sections cover Jones' correspondence covering all aspects of spectroscopy after his retirement from NRC. There is a mixture of professional and personal correspondence in the Miscellaneous Professional Correspondence section.
