37 prints postcards.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:Series consists of mostly material contained within an album which includes newspaper clippings about the war, events in Canada and Europe around 1918, and public lectures on the subject of the war; personal correspondence; souvenirs from the debris left in French churches after bombing by Germany; advertisements for U.S. and Royal Steamers; passports; and posters from 1918 Canadian elections in Paris. The album contains postcards, both drawn and photographed, depicting the following cities before and after bombing by Germany in 1918: Paris, la Champagne, Reims, Bar-le-Duc, Verdun, Amiens, and Somme. There are also photographs depicting Hill and members of the Canadian military in Rheims Cathedral and in trenches both inside and outside of Rheims, before the Citadel Verdun, and inside the Bishop's Palace. The following are also included in the album: brochures, advertisements, menus related to ocean travel; passports, visas, personal identification; miscellaneous material such as glass taken from bombed Cathedrals of Verdun, Rheims, and from the street; personal correspondence; and newspaper clippings about travel and the war.
The series also contains photographs that depict the spot where Lyons was killed by Wilson in 1833, Perth, Ont.; Victoria Street, Ottawa, Ont.; Aylmer, Que.; portraits of Mrs. Alexander Christie and of unidentified men; ruins of Colonel By's House on Major's Hill, Ottawa, Ont.; portrait of Rev.
