artistic material Postcards amassed by employees of the Department of Public Works which identify potential Post Office building sites in the towns of Truro and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia; Hartland, New Brunwsick; Stouffville and Essex, Ontario; McLeod and Lethbridge, Alberta; and Revelstoke, British Columbia. There are also views of Worthing, England.. All of the cards were formerly on files, and have holes in them where they were fastened. There are 12 postcards of Truro laid down on linen; 3 postcards of Yarmouth produced by the Yarmouth Portrait Co., as well as a panoramic photographic reproduction by Parker issued by the Yarmouth Board of Trade; two panoramic postcards of Revelstoke, produced by Trueman's Studio of Vancouver; 5 postcard views of Stouffville, one produced by J.E. Evans of Port Rowan, Ontario; 4 views of McLeod, Alberta produced by the Valentine & Sons Co.; 3 postcards of Essex, Ontario, one produced by Atkinson Bros. of Toronto, and two by Warwick Bros. & Rutter, Toronto; 7 postcards of Hartland produced by the Illustrated Post Card Co. of Montreal, and 2 postcards of Hartland produced by John T.G. Carr of Hartland; 5 postcards of Worthing, England; and a folder of ten postcards containing nineteen views of Lethbridge, Alberta produced by Lewis Rice of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
On some of the cards, there is a note that they accompanied "Mr. Daly's report, June 4th June 1912" and that these pieces were originally on file enclosure 1497, envelope 1..
On the cards of Hartland, New Brunswick, there are registration marks on the reverse indicating that they were received March 19, 1910 by D. A. Hewitt, Halifax, and that they were formerly in Dept. of Public Works enclosure 537..
This collection is now located in box "GAD Transfers" on 0330-282-02.
