Fonds consists of depictions of: Coburg, Rice Lake, Rat Portage (now Kenora), Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Edinburgh, Scotland; activities of the Field family at Coburg, Ontario and Bic, Québec; interns at Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Ontario; landscape and genre photos near Coburg, Ontario. Photographs are by G.H. Field; carte, tintype, and cabinet portraits of family members by Lawes, Simpson, Inglis, and Summerhayes.

Field, George H. (George Henry), 1872-1962 : George H. Field (1872-1962), physician, amateur photographer. Born 1872-04-10 Cobourg, Ontario, flourished Toronto, Ontario, 1890-ca. 1895; Edinburgh University, Scotland, 1896; Cobourg, Ontario, 1898-1932; Campbellford, Ontario, 1933-1936; Roseneath, Ontario, 1937-1962. Elected a member of the Toronto Camera Club in 1893. Served for a time as ship's surgeon (ca. 1895-1898), first with the Furness-Withy Line on the North Atlantic, and subsequently in the Pacific, visiting Japan, Hong Kong, and China. Died 1962-10-16 Toronto, Ontario.

Works located in: National Archives of Canada.
