The audio-visual material was created on behalf of client government departments and agencies. Predecessors of the directorate include: Audio-Visual/Expositions Branch, Canadian Government Film and Video Centre, Canadian Government Expositions and Audio-Visual Centre, Film and Video Services, Audio-Visual and MultiMedia Services. There is also audio-visual material collected by the Department of Public Works Library and the Public Relations and Information Services section.
