The fonds consists of a series of historical notes by Alex Pereima and other documents including photos on dancers, ballet institutions and personalities in Canadian ballet. A second series consists of correspondence containing letters from Fernand Nault, choregrapher for the Grands Ballets Canadiens (Montréal) and friend of Alex Pereima. A third series consists of photos and genealogies of his descendants.

Pereima, Alex, 1922-2009 : Alex (Alexander) Pereima, ballet dancer, born July 15, 1922, Montreal Quebec. His parents are Alec (Ilko Perejma) Pereima (Austria, 1884-Montreal, 1973) and Agnes Rosamond Othmer (1890-1979). In 1942 he took his first dance class at the Marjorie Davis School of Dancing in Montreal. He became part of the school and helped in evening ballroom classes. He began taking ballet classes from Fernand Nault's sister Marguerite. He served as a disc jockey in the school's semiweekly canteen for members of the armed forces. In May 1946 Marjorie and Davis Livinson closed the school and retired. To continue with ballet he began taking classes at Gerald Crevier's studio. He was one of the dancers that assisted in the creation of les "Ballets Quebec" with Gerald Crevier as artistic director and principal choreographer. He was also secretary of the company. He took classes at the Ballet Theatre School in New York in the late 40's and with Francoise Sullivan in Montreal, and in the early 50's with Ludmilla Chiriaeff.

In 1950, he appeared in the Ballets Quebec's production of "Veillée d'armes" (Vigil of a Knight), in the lead role of the Knight. In 1951, at the suggestion of his friend, dancer/choreographer Fernand Nault, he began classes with Elizabeth Leese who had opened a studio in Montreal and participated in the 1952 Dance Festival in Toronto for the Leese Studio. He was the Artist in "Lady from the Sea" and Frère Jacques in "Mount Royal Fantasy". In 1953 Dance Festival in Ottawa he danced in "Wedgewood Fantasy" choreographed by Eleanor Moore Ashton for the Montreal Ballet. He also danced in Fernand Nault's production of "Gisèle" for the Montreal Ballet in 1955.

In 1958 he graduated from Sir George Williams University, now Concordia (Montreal), with a B.A. in economics.

Alexander Pereima died in Ottawa on 18 March 2009. He was the partner of Maurice Legault.
