The Director of Public Information also transferred copies of British and other Allied posters with the WIB material. There is no detailed descriptive list of this accession, although titles have been listed wherever possible. Among the artists employed by the NFB in producing posters were Harry Mayerovitch, Hubert Rogers, Laurence Hyde, Marion Scott, Charles Fainmel, Alexander Young Jackson, and A.J. Casson, among others.
This collection has been assigned an arbitrary restrospective accession number of 1983-30. The Wartime Information Board did assign specific numbers to each poster series, which usually appears as WIB-1, WIB-2, etc. However, the collection is not organized to any extent.
An effort has been made to indicate when most of the posters were transferred by listing the entries from the Division of Prints and Drawings Memoranda Book from 1927-1945. This is unfortunately very incomplete.
The posters in this collection were probably received from a large number of sources, but the majority were produced by the Wartime Information Board under the auspices of John Grierson.
