This series contains documents that shed light on the methods used by a judge serving on the highest court in Canada and working in the area of civil rights, common law and criminal law. Her career on the Supreme Court of Canada spanned 15 years and the documents show the changes in her work methods over time. Claire L'Heureux-Dubé wrote more judgments for this Court than anyone else. The correspondence files, files on cases she heard, and the files from conferences among the members of the Court include an abundance of notes, draft judgments, memorandums and minutes, and are exceptionally well organized and detailed. They are especially interesting for the study of the operations of the Supreme Court of Canada. They help explain the reasoning followed by a judge preparing judgments on important cases. This series also contains other sets of important documents prepared by Claire L'Heureux-Dubé, such as files on her appointment and retirement, her clerks and legal assistants, the work schedules of judges and requests allowed and dismissed. It also contains complementary documents such as research files, bibliographies on various areas of the law, different lists of cases heard, which connect with official Court documents and general files.

The series also contains photographs. Most of the photographs document her activities as a judge on the Supreme Court of Canada. A small number of them concern her previous activities.

The series contains medals awarded by Canadian Bar, Quebec Bar and Montréal Bar associations. One of the medals is a work of art depicting Claire L'Heureux-Dubé as a Supreme Court of Canada judge, and was made by the École secondaire Claire L'Heureux-Dubé in Rimouski.
