This album, comprised of 41 pages on which 36 photographs are mounted, is exclusively of the Coppermine settlement and the Inuit that are there. There are images of some of the buildings in Coppermine, both Inuit and non-Inuit. There are many portraits of Inuit, such as women who have tattooed markings on their face and body and Inuit mothers with their babies. These portraits are usually formal. Photos by Richard Harrington and by Mrs. Baird. There are no captions in the album, but accompanying captions can be found in accession file 1973-357 or in the finding aid index under H for Harrington.

The following places in Coppermine can be found in the album: post office; radiosonde building; Hudson's Bay Company trading post; radio station; R.C.M.P. barracks, at night; Inuit encampment.

The following events (mostly posed) can be found in the album: Inuit woman tending a seal-oil lamp; Inuit woman sewing; trading transaction with Leo Manning and Inuit; Inuit woman chewing caribou skin; Inuit playing string game; Inuit drinking tea; Paulette Anerodluk taking a photograph; Nalvana registering new baby with Constable Martin Donnan, for Family Allowance program.

The following objects can be found in the album: igloo with chimney; sled on blocks of ice (to deter dogs); dog footprints embossed in snow; C.P.A. Norseman plane; caribou skin tents; igloo interiors; snow covered Inuit schooner.

The following people (mostly portraits) can be found in the album: Inuit; Inuit women with tattooed facial markings; Constable Martin Donnan; Marie Kablunak, wife of Constable Avadluk; Inuit mothers and babies; Nalvana; Mona Kagitak with parents in tent; Leo Manning, post manager.

There should be interleaving.

Custodial history:

This album was originally part of accession 1974-366, which had been integrated into 1973-357. It has since been separated back into the two individual accessions of 1973-357 and 1974-366.
