Credit Union Central of Canada : The Credit Union Central of Canada, (CUCC), originally known as the Canadian Co-operative Credit Society (CCCS), was incorporated by a Special Act of Parliament in 1953 and regulated under the Cooperative Credit Associations Act. The CCCS changed its name to the CUCC in 1992. The CUCC is the national trade association and central finance facility for credit unions in Canada. It was established to provide liquidity for the credit union system in Canada. This remains the CUCC's primary financial function. In 1977, development responsibilities, formerly performed by the National Association of Canadian Credit Unions, were transferred to the CUCC. The CUCC represents eight provincial credit union centrals, (Newfoundland is not represented nor are the caisse populaires in Quebec part of the organization). The eight provincial centrals are the primary shareholders of Credit Union Central of Canada.
