The series includes personal snapshots of Findley. There are snapshots of Findley as a young man, in England and in Canada, Marigold Charlesworth and various unidentified associates, family, pets, vacations. Animals, especially cats, figure largely in Timothy Findley's life and have been central to at least one of his major literary works: "Not Wanted on the Voyage"; and the series includes a number of images of Timothy Findley's cats. There is also a photograph of dancer Janet Baldwin (model for Ruth in "The Butterfly Plague"). The series also includes family photographs depicting Findley as a younger man, his mother, father, grand-mother, grand-father, brother, aunts, uncle and cousins. Also included are photographs of Findley with Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, photographs of Findley at a writer's residence in Banff, Alberta, photographs of Findley's atelier in Contigac, France as well as photographs from the gathering "A Celebration of Timothy Findley". Also included are 31 black and white photo-mechanical transfers of photographs used for the hardcover edition of the Piano Man's Daughter.

The series includes one sub-series of publicity portraits of Timothy Findley, often with his partner Bill Whitehead in various locations including: their home, Stone Orchard near Cannington, Ontario; on various stage locations, including on the set of "The Rivals". The bulk of the publicity portraits were produced by contemporary Canadian photographers.
