Series consists of records maintained by the Headquarters central registry. The HRDC Subject File Classification System (very similar from the Canada Employment and Immigration Commission) was divided into nine "blocks" representing the major functions of the Department. Each block of subjects was assigned a block of numbers which pertained to individual primary subjects within the block for identification and retrieval purposes by the Department. The nine file blocks were as follows: Bocks 100-1999 - Administration; 2000-2999 - Strategic Policy and Planning; 3000-3999 - Income Security; 4000-4999 - Insurance and Benefits; 5000-5999 - Systems and Information Technology; 6000-6999 - Labour Market Policy; 8000-8999 - Employment; 9000-9999 - Human Investment Programs; 10000-10299 - HRDC-General; 10300-10399 - Modernization Service for Canadians. Please note that the entire classification system is available in the form of finding aid XXX.Biographie/Histoire administrative :Human Resources Development Canada. Headquarters Central Registry : The Headquarter's Central Registy System follows the system that was in place in the Canada Employment Insurance Commission. File blocks are re-used.
