Biography/Administrative history:

Binney, Jonathan, 1723-1807 : Jonathan Binney, merchant, politician, judge and office-holder. Born in Hull, Mass., in 1723; emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1753 and died in Halifax in 1807. Binney was an influential personage in the early history of Halifax and was active in the "Halifax Party" of Michael Fracklin & Joshua Mauger and their commercial empire. His biography is copiously written in the dictionary of Canadian Biography. Vol V, p.81-82.

Field, Robert, 1769-1819 : Robert Field was born on England in 1769 and died in Kingston, Jamaica in 1819. He was a painter, engraver, miniaturist and watercolourist. He was admitted to the Royal Academy School in London in 1790.
In 1794, he emigrated to the United States. From 1808 to 1816 he lived and worked in Halifax.
