The fonds consists primarily of commercially produced feature films along with some privately produced documentary films. This fonds is emblematic of the Library and Archives' comprehensive approach to feature film acquisition and represents less established film production that does not receive the acclaim enjoyed by more documented feature work. In combination with more mainstream film production, and the more established Canadian documentary filmmaking tradition featured in the collections of the National Film Board (NFB) and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), these productions provide researchers and scholars with a complete view of film production history in Canada. The contribution of these films is a valuable asset and compliments the holdings of the Library and Archives.

The fonds provides further historical examples of the production work of Canadian talent, producers, director, actors (including Christopher Plummer, Donald Sutherland and John Vernon) and production crew members, some at the early stages of their careers and who would continue to form the Canadian film community in their future work.

The fonds consists of film elements and videos for 31 feature films, three documentaries and the theatrical trailers of the feature films. All the feature films run approximately 90 minutes and are arranged in either ten, 10 minute rolls or five, 20 minute rolls. Trailers, one roll each, run between two and five minutes. The series episodes run 17, 23 or 24 minutes.

The printing elements include many original negatives as well as duplicate negatives, optical tracks, some one-inch video and reference VHS videocassettes. These master and printing elements will allow for the future reproduction of the collection by the Library and Archives, for preservation and future reference access use. The VHS reference copies provided by the donor will enable immediate access and effective use of the collection.

Additionally, the fonds includes film stills related to the production of the following films (alternate film title(s) are in parentheses); Gladiator Cop (Gladiator Cop: Swordsman II), Murder One (Meurtre au premier degré), Into the Fire (Pris au piège / The Legend of Wolf Lodge / Legend of Lone Wolf), Red Hot (Fièvre rouge), Stepping Razor Red X: The Peter Tosh Story, Sexiest Animal (Why We Love), Still Life (A.K. Art Killer / Framed / Frayeurs partagées), The Swordsman (Le Grand jeu), Vivid (Luscious), Dixie Lanes (La Guerre en Famille), Galaxies are Colliding (Planet of Love), The Big Slice (Les Apprentis voyous), Caribe (Caraibe), Friends, Lovers and Lunatics (Fous à lier / Crazy Horse / She Drives Me Crazy), Blood Relations (Liens sanglants), Red Blooded American Girl (Sang froid), Pink Chiquitas (L'Invasion des amazones roses), The Office Party (Hostile Takeover / Manoeuvre Hostile / The Devastator), One Man Out (L'Homme à abattre / Erik / Erik soldat), and The Undertaker's Wedding (The Undertaker / J'ai épousé un croque-mort).

The fonds also include 26 posters relating to various productions including: Gladiator Cops; The Big Slices; The Swordsman II; Dead Stop; One Man Out; Red Blood; Friends, Lovers and Lunatics; Art Killer; That's Entertainment; Planet of Love; The Pink Chiquitas; Blood Relations; Stepping Razor Red and Gladiator 2000.

CinemaVault Releasing : CinemaVault CEO Nick Stiliadis and Syd Cappe are former business partners, together they operated SC Entertainment and SC Communicatons Limited. In 1994 Syd Cappe's shares were purchased by Nick Stiliadis. CinemaVault Releasing Inc. is the operating entity that engages suppliers and personnel to service films controlled by parent company Cinemavault.com, Inc.

CinemaVault's primary role is to facilitate the worldwide exploitation of motion pictures. The company primarily licenses the rights to other companies to handle direct distribution into each marketplace worldwide. CinemaVault acquires rights by paying distribution advances and/or committing to finance the marketing expenses to launch a film. In other cases, CinemaVault is hired by financiers to exploit films worldwide. At the time of donation, CinemaVault was handling over 200 feature films for producers, financiers and independent filmmakers. CinemaVault is a federal Canadian corporation with its head office in Toronto at 175 Bloor Street East, South Tower, Suite 1011, Ontario M4W 3R8.

CinemaVault maintains a high profile in the international marketplace and based on its expertise and reputation many films originated outside of Canada are brought to CinemaVault's attention in order to secure distribution in the worldwide marketplace. In addition to non-Canadian films, Cinemavault has handled some high profile Canadian films in the marketplace including Genie award winner Atanarjuat, Genie award winner Savage Messiah, Genie nominated Histoire de Pen as well as numerous other Canadian films. By bringing Canadian films to the international marketplace and ensuring that those films secure distribution in as many territories as possible, Cinemavault is promoting the export of Canadian film product to the world marketplace thus ensuring maximum exposure for Canadian cinema.

CinemaVault is primarily an international feature film distributor and all distribution windows including theatrical, video, Pay TV, Free TV, Video on demand (VOD), satellite, airline, ship and hotel are exploited to maximize commercial value.
