Series consists of correspondence between Amelia Houghton and Thomas Hunton, during the long period of their courtship, and later, their marriage. The letters contain expressions of affection and news of daily activities, family members, and friends. Church-related activities are frequently mentioned, as both were devout Methodists. Hunton's efforts to set up his own business are also described. Following their marriage, Hunton often wrote to his wife while away on trips.

Also included in this series is correspondence with Charlotte Houghton, the unmarried sister of Amelia Houghton, and correspondence of both Charlotte and Amelia with their mother. As well, miscellaneous items of ephemera mainly associated with Amelia Houghton are included.
