Five prints entitled: "View of Saint John, N.B. 1851"; "View of King St., St. John City"; "View of Kings Square, St. John City"; "View of the Falls, St. John River at High Water"; "View of Indian Town, St. John City". These originally formed a single sheet view. Work by John William Hill (1812-1879), on stone by Napoleon Sarony (1821-1896), published by Francis Smith & Co., New York.
This is a retrospective accession. The information about it is found in RG 37 "C" Series, Volume 328, File 1913, George L. Goodman correspondence and in the Artist Files 705-1609 and 705-2379.
The print entitled "View of Saint John, N.B. 1851" (C-011239) is located in 0330, A558. The remaining 4 prints were unframed in Oct. 1960 and are located in 0330, A223-01.
