Painting entitled "Horseshoe Falls, Niagara" showing the Falls of Niagara from below, perhaps the earliest such depiction. Work by Sir James Erskine of Torrie (1772-1825).
This work is not documented in division accession records. The purchase of "a small view of the Great Cataract" in 1912 is presumed to refer to this work, as no other reference can be found. See RG 37 "C" Series, Vol. 329, file 1912-13, 96..
