Watercolour of Back's team as they ascend icy hills. The small team was dispatched in winter of 1821 by Franklin from Fort Enterprise to seek supplies at Fort Chipewyan. The other members of the team of eight are all depicted in this image by Back: Willard Wentzel, a North West Company clerk; Gabriel Beauparlant, a voyageur, likely Métis; Solomon Belanger, a voyageur, possibly Métis; Dene hunter Akaiyazzeh and his wife Little Forehead; and Dene hunter Thoolezzeh and his wife Smiling Marten. One of the women had a small child with her.
