Item is a colour lithograph depicting the site of Esquimault adjacent to the present-day Victoria, featuring several presumably Salish Indians landing on shore, ca. 1872., Library and Archives Canada owns an album of photographs taken on board the Zealous in Esquimalt harbour in 1872.

Removed from: Publication: Published in Lieutenant Adolf Ekelöf, Ett år i Stilla Fafvet. Reseminnen från Patagonien, Chili, Peru, Californien, Britiska Columbia och Oceanien (Stockholm, Anstalt Lith., 1872)
Lieutenant Ekelöf was a Swedish naval lieutenant on board the British naval ships, the Zealous and the Alert. Ekelöf sailed round Cape Horn and north to San Francisco and Vancouver on board the Zealous, before transferring to the Alert which took him to Honolulu and on to Tahiti.
This work is possibly from a publication entitled "Ett Ar I Stilla Hafvet".
