A medal cast in commemoration of the British capture of the Island of Guadeloupe as part of the Seven Years' War (1759). This invasion was led by Commodore John Moore and Major-General John Barrington (both commemorated on the obverse side of this medal). The island would eventually be ceded back to the French as stipulated by the signing of the Treaty of Paris (1763), which formally ended the Seven Years' War.

The obverse side of the medal displays an image of the Titan, Pallas. He is seen standing on the prow of a ship holding a trident in one hand and a military standard in the other. Pallas is often considered the Titan god of warcraft.

The reverse side of the medal displays an allegorical image of Britannia as a woman, leaning upon her spear with a shield bearing the British flag by her side. In front of her kneels a pleading woman holding sugar-canes. Guadeloupe was a major exporter of sugar at the time of the islands' seizure by the British.
