View taken from Beleisle (see below). The foreground shows a small body of water on the hill itself, with a heron flying in front. In the distance the flat land is visibly divided into strip farms. There are small settlements along the main road: houses and churches are visible., The following views all have similar secondary supports, and might have been pasted in the same album: 1953-75-3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -8, -10, -12, -13, and -14., The inscription suggests that this is not Seton's original sketch, but the more finished one that he worked up on October 15th., Beleisle might be Mt. Beloeil, the modern Mt. Saint-Hilaire in Rouville, or it could be Belisle Hill, in Terrebonne. Both are in Quebec., George Seton was a British military officer active in North America from April 14, 1844 to August 31, 1848. British officers were often trained in watercolour as a method of recording topography.
