Scope and content:

Watercolour of Quebec city showing the upper and lower town, and sailing ships in the St. Lawrence. It is delicately coloured, and executed with attention to detail, particularly in the rigging of the sailing ship anchored in the river., This work has been identified as "Quebec. Original water colour by G.S.Owens." from an inventory of items in Col. Macpherson's house. It was framed when it came to the archives., The artist has been tentatively identified as George Owen(s) Junior, who was an american landscape painter. This Owens exhibited works of New England, Rhode Island, France, and other unidentified areas at the National Academy in the United States.
