This print is II-4d on the Robert Hood inventory list., This first state of the print is distinguished from the second state by the changed inscription (roman letter instead of italics in the first and third lines, a and the title line letters executed with different spacing and with commas after the words "Akaitcho" and "March" ), and less aquatint, allowing etched details, such as those in the face of the man, to be seen more clearly than in the second state., See other never-bound copies of this print in the NA Art Collection (first state printed in black and grey ink and second state printed in black and grey ink). See bound second state copies (2) in NA Library editions of Franklin's "Narrative" (both printed in brown ink and handcoloured)., Location: Gatineau Preservation Centre, 1997-476-91
