Upon the request of the leader of Maryland [Charles Calvert], on [20] Sep. 1670 [see Lettere 99] the former Internuncio [Airoldi] was empowered to select missionaries for that "island," to whom faculties were to be granted by the Protector [of England, F. Barberini 1597-1679]; because the Internuncio [Airoldi] never wrote back on the matter, faculties have never been granted. The addressee is requested to send the names of the missionaries who have been sent to Maryland, so that the matter can finally be dealt with.
