ALS. The writer has just received a letter from the vicar apostolic in Nova Scotia [E. Burke], that shows how, under normal circumstances, he will never be able to bless the sacred oils; the writer suggests that an exception be made in the case of Nova Scotia. He left Rome three months previously [on 10 February 1820], but has not yet received the promised answers to his queries [see SOCG 102-103]. He still hopes the King [George IV]'s ministers will approve the establishment of the archbishopric of Québec, and will inform the addressee on the Confederates States of America that he will visit [on his way back to Canada].

He encloses a petition of the superior of the Montréal Seminary [Roux], and informs that letters to him must not be sent care of Lavizzari, but care of Gradwell, Rector of the English seminary [recte College, in Rome], who will forward them to London, care of Vasnier, 17, Northumberland Street, Manchester Square.
