ALS. The writer, who congratulates the addressee for his recent promotion [to cdl., on 15 March 1830], received from the Montréal Seminary a number of documents on their dispute with the [a]bp. of Québec [Panet] re the administration of the parish of [Notre-Dame-de-]Montréal. These will be forwarded to Fesch when the latter has recovered. Thavenet will inform the addressee in detail with this same mail [see C 233]. Df of the addressee's answer of 5 August 1830 (Fesch is ill; PF is well disposed towards a separation of Montréal from Québec; Lartigue's affair is to be discussed on 6 September [1830]; no application has been received as yet from the bp. of Québec; Maguire, Tabeau, Roux, Richards mentioned). [The balance of this item deals with Turin, Trinidad].
