Peter Lewis Paul, C.M., LL.D. (1902-1989) was a respected Maliseet Elder from Woodstock, New Brunswick, who contributed greatly to the study of First Nations ethnology and linguistics. He was the recipient of many honours, including the Centennial Medal (1967), an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of New Brunswick (1970) and membership in the Order of Canada (1987).
