St. Andrews (Manitoba) (formerly Sault à la Biche, Deer Rapids) is a community established at the limestone rapids on the Red River south of Selkirk (Manitoba). The rapids were the site of early First Nation and Metis settlements as the ground is higher than at the forks, and less subject to flooding. A bridge and locks at Lockport (completed in 1910), submerged the rapids in order to make the Red River navigable through to Lake Winnipeg.
