This series documents the chain of custody and the use of land from the beginning of coal mining operations and related activities to the present day. Series includes records created prior to the establishment of the Cape Breton Development Corporation, dating as early as 1803, as well as records of the Corporation dating from 1967 to the present. Records include surface maps, drawings, survey plans, mine plans, lease and sub-lease agreements, conveyances, deeds of trust and property files for predecessor companies. Also included are lease agreements, conveyances, and quit claim deeds between predecessor companies and private individuals and a notebook listing Glace Bay properties and survey measurements.
