The collection consists of hand-drawn, large-scale geological maps of various mining districts in northern Québec and Ontario, and large-scale engineering plans of mining properties. In addition, there are a small number of published maps documenting a variety Canadian galciers. Most of the maps and plans are whiteprints (documents that were reproduced using the diazo chemical process, a process that resulted in blue, black or brown lines on a white background). Some of the records are annotated.

Custodial history:

Pierre Mauffette was a French-Canadian geologist, civil engineer and mining engineer who worked at the University of Montreal Politechnique School, where he taught geology, and as a prospector in Canada and abroad from the 1930s to 1970s.
