The series consists of the editorial files for volume I, which covered the period from 'beginnings' to 1840 and was edited by Patricia Fleming, Gilles Gallichan, and Yvan Lamonde. This series includes comprehensive working documents and correspondence from all three editors on the French and English editions, ranging from comments on first drafts through to finals and translations, as well as correspondence with authors and work on apparatus such as preliminary materials, bibliography and index. Work of the English text editor, Elizabeth Hulse, and French text editors, Bettina Cenerelli and Yzabelle Martineau, is also included. Specific groups of records include the author files (vols. 8-18), English manuscripts (vols. 18-20), tables and contents and bibliography, etc. (vols. 20-21), French manuscripts and proofs (vols. 21-23), and images (vol. 24). The series includes the French manuscipt in digital format.
