Specifically, it concerns the activities of Policy and Research Unit staff (i.e. Chaviva Hosek, Paul Genest, Marjorie Lovey, Alain Beaudoin, Robbin Tourangeau and Mary Granskou). The Policy and Research Unit was in charge of developing and reviewing the legislative agenda of Jean Chrétien's Liberal government. It also analyzed, for the Prime Minister, key social, economic and environmental issues of the 1993-2003 period.
The series consists mainly of correspondence, briefing notes, memos, reports, studies, submissions to the Prime Minister's Office or other federal bodies, news releases, speeches, interview transcripts, press clippings, and copies of articles.
The series is divided into two (2) sub-series: Director of Policy and Research's Correspondence, and Working Files.Additional information:Conservation:The records of this series are in excellent general condition, and robust measures were taken to preserve them: all metal pieces were removed, newspaper clippings were removed and replaced with photocopies, records in a fragile state of preservation were also photocopied, etc. Lastly, records were removed from their original folders and placed in acid-free folders.Language note:The records of this series are in French and English.Related material:See also Chaviva Hosek fonds, Director of Policy and Research in the Office of the Prime Minister series.Source:Private -
