Series containing records concerning the production of the opera Serinette (music by Harry Somers, libretto by James Reaney), including a pre-production workshop in 1989, the full production at the Sharon Temple in 1990, and subsequent activities (including the recorded version issued on the Centrediscs label). The files pertain to many aspects of mounting an opera, including auditions, casting, broadcasting, promotion, marketing, searching for sponsors and financial support, possible tours, the orchestra, costumes, and background historical research on the Sharon Temple, the Children of Peace, and the Jarvis family (which all figure in the plot). Included are such documents as correspondence, promotional material, contracts, agreements, lists of cast and musicians, photographs of singers, other photographs (including the Sharon Temple), schedules, sound recordings of the pre-production workshop and of a CBC radio broadcast of the 1990 full production, a video recording of the full production, photocopies of costume designs and of architectural drawings of the Sharon Temple, press clippings, notes, financial records. Also included is a sound recording of a workshop reading of the opera Ghost Dance (about the Sioux chief Sitting Bull, with libretto by Mavor Moore).
