Jenkins, Frank Tristram, 1895-1973 : Frank Tristan Jenkins (1895-1973) was a consultant forester and mapmaker. He attended the Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto; graduating with the degree of B.Sc.F. in 1923. Frank Jenkins spent the greater part of his professional career in survey and mapping work in Eastern Canada, along with the preparation of forest management plans, company operating systems and forest evaluations. As an undergraduate in 1922 he began his aerial sketching at Sioux Lookout, Ontario. After graduation he was employed by the Ontario Forestry Branch, continuing his aerial sketching at Remi Lake, on the Mississagi Reserve and in the vicinity of Lake Nipigon in successive years. In 1926 he joined James D. Lacey Co. and continued his career in forest survey work from Montreal.

In 1931, Jenkins became associated with Canadian Airways Limited, making an aerial reconnaissance of Gaspe and the St. Lawrence north shore regions. In 1935 he carried out an aerial forest reconnaissance covering all parts of Labrador and in 1942 he was appointed superintendent of the surveys division of Canadian Pacific Airlines. Jenkins formed the F.T. Jenkins Limited in 1956 and went into forestry surveys business on his own. The firm dissolved in 1960.

Probably no one has contributed more to the development of the technology and practice of the use of aircraft mapping and resources inventory. He was a pioneer in his field until his retirement in the late sixties.
