This series contains a portion of the records created and managed by Monique Bondar, Jean Chrétien's personal assistant for more than 17 years, and then by Carole Côté who succeeded her in 2001. It also contains correspondence and various working and reference documents, most dating from the period when Jean Chrétien was Prime Minister. In addition, it contains many original documents signed by Canadian and international political figures.

The series also covers the most personal component of Jean Chrétien's political documents. Most documents bear his initials, a code used to indicate that they were approved or at least seen by the Prime Minister (or the Minister, depending on the period).

The series also includes twenty-three (23) architectural drawings and four (4) photographs.

Conservation:

The records of this series are in excellent general condition, and robust measures were taken to preserve them: all metal pieces were removed, newspaper clippings were removed and replaced with photocopies, records in a fragile state of preservation were also photocopied, etc. Lastly, records were removed from their original folders and placed in acid-free folders.

Arrangement note:

The archivist developed the subject classification for this series largely in an attempt to preserve, where possible, the original order of its documents.

Language note:

The records in the series are in English and French.
