File is Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery collected by the Canadian Ice Service. The remotely sensed imagery is available as mirrored pairs in tactical (uncompressed) and compressed format.

Flight path = Gulf of St. Lawrence. Altitude = 37000-41000 feet. Tactical files numbering 7-11. Compressed files numbering 2-5. Leg 1 name = A18; from N45 56.0, W057 08.0 to N45 26.0, W063 57.0. Leg 2 name = B18; from N47 09.0, W065 15.0 to N48 40.0, W058 10.0.

Also contains a textual, electronic LOG file created during the data extraction. It includes: Folder Name, Extraction Date, Data Capture Date, Extraction Information (filename, filesize, start time, stop time), Data Capture Information (filename, number of lines), Summary (Total Bytes / Files copied and time interval), and Error Message, if applicable. Type of computer file or data note:

Tactical SAR imagery is raw radar imagery. It can be viewed using the following software: Adobe Photoshop 9 (and possibly earlier and later software versions) via the "Open As" option or ERDAS Imagine 8.7 (and possibly earlier and later software versions). If Adobe Photoshop is used to access the imagery, the following information is required: header size (1024), width (4160) and length (varies and can be automatically calculated by Photoshop or obtained from the number of lines field in the electronic LOG file). If ERDAS Imagine is used to access the imagery, an additional computer file (.gen) will be required; refer to Mikan 213664 for further information. The imagery will appear in mirrored format and should be reoriented.
