This small body of Personal and Confidential material was located in Diefenbaker's office during his last years as an MP; however, many of the files actually date from the 1957 to 1967 period and likely came originally from the Wagner and Pound sub-series. The last person responsible for the material was Beatrice Eligh who joined Diefenbaker's staff in 1970. Mrs. Eligh apparently added a small number of files pertaining to both Diefenbaker's finances and his estate. It is likely that some material also came from Eligh's immmediate predecessor, Iris Axford.

Among the more important files in this subseries are those related to Berlin, the Common Market, Igor Gouzenko, the Kennedy memo, and the Munsinger Affair.

This sub-series consists mainly of subject files and nominal files, and includes a small number of files marked secret.

Subjects include, among others, ambassadorships, Berlin, British Columbia Progressive Conservative situation, Borden Report, British royalty, the budget, Cabinet, Canadian National Railways - vacancies, caucus meeting, civil aviation, Combines Investigation Act, Common Market, communists, defence, defence production, defence research, Dorion Commission, elections, gambling, income tax, Igor Gouzenko, government advertising, government appointments, income tax, Law of the Sea, legal file - Cuelenaere and Hall cases, Munsinger Affair, Nasser interview, National Development Board, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, North Pacific Fisheries Convention, nuclear disarmament, nuclear weapons - Kennedy memo, party organization, Privy Council, Red Ensign, RCMP report, Royal Commission - Banking, Senate, Unemployment Committee, USSR, United Kingdom, United Nations, United States - Kennedy, uranium, Winter Works, and World's Fair 1967. The Columbia River file is marked secret.

This sub-series includes more than 50 files titled with the names of individuals, including many Canadian and foreign politicians. Among these file titles are Hal Banks, Baron Beaverbrook, and R.B. Bryce. The Lord Amory file is marked secret.

Microfilm reels M-9410 to M-9415 were filmed between 2005-09-26 and 2006-01-13 by the Diefenbaker Centre, which supplied them to Library and Archives Canada.

Originals, located at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre, University of Sasatchewan, are arranged in volumes 79 to 88. Microfilm reel numbers M-9410 to M-9415 correspond to these volumes.
