Not only was Paul Martin a successful and well known business man before entering politics, in the course of his political career he was: a Member of Parliament for LaSalle-Émard, QC (1988 to 2008); a member of different government committees (1989 to 1993); Critic (1989 to 1993); the Minister responsible for the Federal Office of Regional Development for the Province of Quebec (1993 to 1996); Minister of Finance (1993 to 2002); and the 21st Prime Minister of Canada (2003 to 2006).
The series is made up agendas, correspondence concerning scheduling, correspondence arranged nominally and correspondence arranged by subject. The correspondence is addressed to all of Paul Martin's different offices and roles in government; however, the correspondence concerning scheduling in this series is of a more general nature and will only occasionally include background or briefing material. In cases where files contain briefing books, the information has been included in parentheses as part of the file title.Additional information:Arrangement note:The series is broken down into three sub-series: Agendas, Events Attended, Invitations Regretted and Requests for Meetings; Correspondence -Nominal Files; and Correspondence - Subject FilesSource:Private -
