4 paintings : acrylic paint on canvas ; 22.5 x 30 cm.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:This sub-series consists of correspondence which has been filed under the last name of the correspondent. In addition to correspondence from Members of Parliament and Senators, the files also include correspondence from other prominent political figures, international figures, constituents, as well as the general public. The material ranges from 1988 to 2009, and as such, covers all phases of Paul Martin's political career, including small amounts of 2008 and 2009 correspondence he would have received after having decided not to run for Parliament in the 2008 federal election.
The correspondence tends to be of a very general and cordial nature, consisting of such things as thank you notes, letters of congratulations, letters of recommendation and/or condolence and holiday wishes. It will occasionally include small amounts of information concerning different political and/or economical matters, but most of the correspondence tends to be one to three pages and does not generally include additional or formal briefing material.
While there is correspondence from the Prime Minister's Office found amongst the material, it can easily be identified as it will usually have a cover sheet entitled "Prime Minister's Correspondence Transmittal Form". In cases where there is no cover sheet, the Correspondence and Issues Management System (CIMS) number and/or the CIMS accession number has been written by hand on to the top right corner of the correspondence. It has been kept in this sub-series to respect the original order in which the material was received.
Correspondence from the following individuals, to name a few, can be found in the sub-series: Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Bono, Ed Broadbent, George H. Bush, George W. Bush, Kim Campbell, Adrienne Clarkson, Bill Clinton, Jean Charest, Jacques Chirac, Jean Chretien, Thomas D'Aquino, Ken Dryden, Gilles Duceppe, Michael Ignatieff, Michaëlle Jean, Brian Mulroney, Roy Romanow, Ariel Sharon, Maurice Strong, David Suzuki, Lise Thibault and John Turner. There is also much correspondence from other lesser known world leaders and royalty that can be found amongst the material.Additional information:Arrangement note:The correspondence is arranged in alphabetical order, by last name of correspondent.Source:Private -
