This series consists of 3005 published atlases (1 braille, 2 microfiche and 18 CD-ROMS and floppy disc(s)) that cover various dates and geographic areas from 1250-2005. 50 of these atlases are facsimiles.

This series structure holds the containers for the published atlases which are divided into 8 sub-series, 14 sub-sub-series and 6 file-level descriptions. These records are organized by century (before 1500 to 2000s) then by decade within 1900-1999 with a separate series for the CD-ROMs.

Note on the state of conservation:

Some of the older atlases (1850 and older) have been dismantled with the plates stored separately for conservation purposes.

Some of the content from these atlases has been reproduced on microfiche.

Restrictions on access note:

Most of the early atlases (1850 and older) have physical restrictions and will not circulate due to their fragility and age. Please consult on site in Gatineau (Québec) in the presence of a cartographic archivist.
