The collection consists principally of photographs (sometimes autographed) of musical groups and related ensembles, soloists, music historians or theorists, and other personalities of the Canadian music scene dating back to the late nineteenth century. They include such figures as Calixa Lavallée (a portrait dating from ca. 1880), and more recent personalities, legendary artists, or historically significant ensembles, such as Paul Anka, Colette Boky, Maynard Ferguson, Edoardo Ferrari-Fontana, Maureen Forrester, Glenn Gray, Guy Lombardo, George London, George MacFarlane, Frank Mills, Anne Murray, the National Ballet of Canada, Leighton Noble, the Oriole Orchestra, Ottawa Boys Band, Wilfrid Pelletier, Léopold Simoneau, Hank Snow, and many others. The collection also includes documentary photographs of concert halls, historical concert programmes or posters, and other artefacts related to Canadian music.
