Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Alberta Regional Office of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and its predecessors.

The accession includes, but is not limited to, records relating to social development, National Social Development Committee Treaty 7 Tribal Council, Gathering Strength Demonstration Project, Treaty 6 and 8, finance, child abuse, Project Haven, hospital services, burial and funeral services, nutrition and population health, policy, suicide, old age security, uninsured services, housing and shelter, Work Opportunities Program, medical services, forestry, timber, construction, meetings, reports, studies, Indian Taxation Advisory Board, accidental deaths, guardianship, economic development, agriculture, Northeastern Alberta Strategy, grants, employment, loans, schools, education (incl. nominal rolls), education assistance, environmental issues, Old River Dam, and complaints and petitions.

The accession also includes records pertaining to various bands including, but not limited to, Heart lake, Blood, Siksika, Samson Cree Nation, Sturgeon Lake, Peigan, Fort McMurray, Blackfoot, Stoney, Sarcee, Sunchild, and many more.

Custodial history:

These records were originally housed in Edmonton, but were later transferred to British Columbia. They were transferred again in 2016 and are now located in the National Capital Region and are available for consultation there.
