These student works are primarily of watercolours and drawings document her career of apprximately 30 years as a teacher of art. They are comprised of sketches from museum pieces including Greek and Roman statuary, bird and animal mannequins, costume pieces, ethnographic utensils and pottery, and completed assignment templates testing colour theory.
Sub-series includes miscellaneous items likely kept as inspirational and resource imagery or used as instructional material, produced by various known and unknown artists. Two lithographic prints of particular note are after paintings by Paul de Longpré, who is famous for his flower paintings and must have been an inspiration to Coombs for her flower work. This material also includes reproductions and prints (2 posters by Doreen Wood); postcards and Christmas cards.
