The map was published in order to show the changes in boundaries as a result of the Proclamation of 1763. The inset plans of Montreal and Quebec are accompanied by legend describing buildings and fortifications. The map was published in several atlases. In 1776 it appeared in Jefferys': American Atlas, no. 19 and in: American Maps, Vol. 6, No. 1. In 1777 the map also appeared in W. Faden's: North American Atlas as no. 3. The map was also translated by G. L. Le Rouge in 1777 and appeared in his: Atlas Ameriquain Septentrional 1778-[1792] as plate 7.
