Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Prince George District Office of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, and its predecessors. Predecessors include: the Lakes District Office, the Stuart Lake Agency, the Burns Lake Agency, and the Fort St. John District Office.
The accession includes, but is not limited to records relating to: Organization and administration, including administration establishment, regional office establishment, methods and procedures, the Indian Act, school establishment, and itineraries of officials; band management, including adoption; administration buildings; school buildings, including staff residence; engineering services, including government contracts and specifications, roads, wharves, and water licences; medical equipment & supplies; welfare equipment & supplies, including clothing and blankets, and fire fighting equipment; arts & crafts; health services, including health insurance, sanitation, doctors accounts, and nutrition projects; law enforcement, including accidents, drownings, manslaughter, Etc.; Economic development, including research & surveys, resettlement, workmen's compensation, and Indian Economic Development Fund loans &/or guaranteed loans; natural resources, including timber, and traplines; placement of labour; office & other misc. expenses; reports & returns, including quarterly returns - residential schools; social activities, including associations, sports, and social leaders - activities; education, including admission & discharge of pupils - residential schools, educational assistance, in-service training of teachers, student residence, joint schools, practical arts, admission & discharge of pupils - residential schools for family allowances, and non-indigenous pupils in indigenous schools; transportation, including school children, warrants, and air transport; trust funds, including budgets & authorities for expenditure, management of band funds under section 69 - Indian Act; welfare, including family allowance, fire prevention, community development, and housing; surveys & reserves; individual case files, including estates, enfranchisements, the mentally incompetent, and guardianship; property damage & protection, including fire protection; statistics, including vital, and census records; Federal-Provincial records; policy research & evaluation, including meetings - associations & band members, and finance. Also includes several registers of pupils of the Lejac Indian Residential School, as well as trapline maps for the Williams Lake District.
